Today the Jupiter Sandbar is proud to bring you our Mrs. Smokeys Real Pit BBQ review.
Mrs. Smokeys BBQ is a small, family-owned BBQ restaurant in Lake Park. But don’t let this unassuming joint in a stripmall-esque building fool you. It is some of the best barbeque you will eat in South Florida!
We had the chopped pork platter ($10.99) which came with two sides; we picked mac’n’cheese and collards. We also had the ribs (with dry rub) and quarter chicken platter ($12.99) with the succotash and beans. The ribs were well seasoned and flavored, and fell right off the bone.
It’s the BBQ sauce that really distinguishes Mrs. Smokeys from other BBQ restaurants. You can pick how hot you want the BBQ sauce – we recommend blending the mild with the medium. It’s still pretty hot! One of the best parts of the meal was the fried biscuit. They take your typical southern bread biscuit and fry it! Delicious. The décor was cute and the owners put a lot of thought into the theme of the restaurant, with their cow-hide covered chairs, western décor on the walls, and even a television on the wall playing westerns.
The best feature was the wooden barrel in the middle of the restaurant where you can “wash up” and clean those hands after your BBQ meal – no smelly wet wipes needed! There is some outdoor seating so dogs are welcome here. There is also a drive through window for those to-go orders.
Thursdays are 2 for 1 beer night! Don’t miss it! Mrs. Smokeys is currently looking for investors to open a second location.
